Ruth Roman, born in Lynn Massachusetts to Lithuanian-Jewish Mary Pauline Gold and Abraham Roman Abraham Roman, was the 3rd daughter in their family. When her father passed away in the role of a carnival barker as a young girl and she was forced to keep the family going by working as a cook and server. Ruth went to school and was poor throughout Boston Massachusetts in the tenement district. However, she left school in the span of two years to take on a acting career. It was not without problems. When she was offered a job at New York as a model for a magazine that dealt with detectives, she was unable to get jobs on stage. Then in NYC, she volunteered at a bar as an entry-point girl, before quitting before moving to Boston. The New England Repertory Company was the first job she had as a steady actor. Earned money performing during the daytime working as an Usherette. She earned a bachelor's diploma in drama from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
